EUGENE GLASS SCHOOL ARTIST

Bob Snodgrass

Bob Snodgrass began lampworking in 1971 working clear borosilicate doing prep work for Chuck Murphy, owner of New Phoenix Glass of Akron, Ohio. In 1972, he encouraged Chuck to blend micro-fine copper with clear glass and discovered copper red and copper green. In 1978, Bob studied solid sculpture and lacework under Bill Burns of Missouri. In 1981, Bob developed whole-metal vaporization of silver and gold "fuming", a much cleaner and more controllable process of lending color to glass than the then-existing "secret". In 1990, Bob and his family settled in Eugene, Oregon. Bob is currently a regular instructor at the Eugene Glass School, a member of the Eugene chapter of the Oregon Glass Guild, and a health and safety trained member of the American Scientific Glassblower Society.
