Selected works will be exhibited at the Alder Art Gallery with a printed announcement.

Small Format Competition for two- and three-dimensional artworks, $2200.00 awards. Open in USA. Slides $12 each or 3/$30, ENTRIES ARE DUE/POSTMARKED: October 12, 2005

Submit by slide or cd with return stamped envelope. Identify each slide with: title, medium, size, and name.

PRESENTATION:

Accepted artworks from slides or cd must arrive framed or mounted and ready for display as follows:

  • Two-dimensional artwork not to exceed 10 inches in any direction (this does not include mat or frame).
  • Three-dimensional artwork not to exceed 10 inches in any direction (this does not include base or stand).
  • Flat paper artwork, if glazed Plexiglas only.

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all living artists who reside in North America. Artwork must have
been completed within the last three years. Any permanent medium, including:
paintings, prints, photography, fiber arts, jewelry, ceramic, glass, clay, mixed medium, pastel,
metal, etc.

The Alder Gallery is located in Lane County, Oregon. The gallery offers quality works by known and emerging artists. Exhibits change every three months. Judging is based on a slide or CD review by the jurors.

Upon arrival, accepted works that differ appreciably from the slides or cd submitted will be disqualified. Artwork must be framed and ready to hang.

All artwork must be for sale. The Gallery commission is 40% of the selling price.

JURORS:   

    Ellen Tykeson: 1994:UoO Masters Degree in sculpture.  Traditional figurative artist working in bronze and ceramic mediums.  Teaches sculpture at Lane Community College, Eugene, Or.  Commissions include:  Norwalk Furniture Design, Indian Wells, Ca., Cottage Grove Hospital, Cottage Grove, Or. University of Oregon Museum of Art, Eugene, Or.  Ellen strives to achieve emotional connection, believable anatomy, and solid design in her work.

    Hattie Mae Nixon: Fiber specialist with interests in process and historical significances. Independent curator and strong advocate for the visual arts. Docent to the University of Oregon Museum of Natural History and the Jordan Schnitzer art Museum.

    Dena E. Brown, independent curator, designer for the gallery at the Eugene Municipal Airport. Ms. Brown is currently working on exhibits including metal sculpture, ceramics, paintings, photography, prints, crafts, outsider and garden art. She is affiliated with: American Federation of the Arts, American Assoc. of Museums and Eugene Arts and Letters Awards.
