STEVE
REINMUTH,
bronze sculpture &
THE
RIVER: Group show
Reception:
Saturday May 11th
1 – 4pm
Steve Reinmuth
will be showing bronze sculptures and bells.
He has been actively working on this new body of work and
is most excited to bring them to the world.
Steve loves music and the challenge of combining it with
bronze. To make a
bell he must first have vision, the shape being the most important
element. Sound is
then incorporated by the thick and thinness of the metal, the
shape, size, how large, or long or round the openings will be, are
all sub ordinate to the entire vessel bell.
Steve is never certain when he begins “I sweat it and
anticipate through trial and error that I come up with something
that sounds as good as it looks.
It is my hope for strength, clarity, resonance, and
richness of tone.”
Steve has always been intrigued with bells.
He has never forgotten his visit at an early age to the
liberty bell. “It
was cracked,” he thought that’s the way all bells should be
and to this day he defies anyone to tell him any different.
THE RIVER.
Oregon is synonymous with the river.
We are lucky to live where the river is part of our
everyday lives. It
nurtures us. It satisfies us.
It brings commerce. It
brings agriculture. It
gives recreation. It brings us peace.
It gives us life. It
controls our path. It
cleanses and renews us. It brings us pleasure and comfort.
Alder Gallery artists have created works in various mediums
including: oil and pastel paintings, and fiber and ceramic
materials depicting THE RIVER.
We are very pleased to bring this special show to our
community. Susan
Comerford says, “ I’m inspired to paint near a Native American
vision quest site located east of Roseburg, Oregon.
This image is powerful and dramatic.
I feel a strong spirit presence of ancient souls”.
The McKenzie River Trust will be present at our
reception to answer questions on keeping our river safe, clean and
protected and Eugene Wine Cellar’s will be serving wine.
